Here's a fun little fact for all my non-Icelandic speaking fans: in Icelandic the squid is called 'smokkfiskur', which literally translates as condom fish; smokk=condom, fiskur=fish. Crazy, right? Still, sort of makes sense, when you think about it. Perhaps the name of the birth control comes from the shape of the fish, and not the other way around; or perhaps the 'smokk'-part is descriptive for a shape, and both the fish and the penis rubber tube take their names from it. I don't know, and don't care enough to research it- fuck, I won't even bother to google it. If you on the other hand do, please keep it to yourself, I really don't give a rats ass.
